Just weeks ago, Arsenal’s new left-back, Cohen Bramall, was playing for non-league Hednesford Town and working for Bentley Motors.

The phrase ‘rapid rise’ is used a lot in football, particularly when it comes to youngsters coming from nowhere. However, this couldn’t be truer than for Bramall, who was made redundant from his part-time job at Bentley in December and was looking for work when Arsenal approached him.

Following Arsenal finally announcing the signing of the 20-year-old, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was just 16 when the Gunners signed him from Southampton, explained how he’s inspired by our new signing’s story and how the player must be in ‘dreamland’ right now.

“I was training on the side of the pitch with the fitness coach,” the Ox told Arsenal Player.

“So I was looking over and then I saw him training, so I asked someone about him and they me a story and obviously it made me think wow… to be where he was a couple of weeks ago, and then to be training with the Arsenal first team, I was thinking he must be in dreamland over there.”

Bramall has already been training alongside our senior team. Not only does that mean he’s been sharing the training pitch with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Granit Xhaka but he’s also been playing in front of Arsene Wenger.

It must be surreal. Hopefully, the other players help to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
