On this day in 2015, Arsenal beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup on their way to winning the trophy for the second season in a row.

After narrowly beating Hull City 3-2 in extra time at Wembley the previous season, Arsenal were dead-set on clinching the cup for a second year running.

It was our second match of the FA Cup – the fourth round – and we’d already beaten the previous season’s finalists 2-0 at the Emirates.

Interestingly, this was our first FA Cup tie outside of London for a long time, considering all our clashes were at home or Wembley the previous term.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring at the Amex Stadium in the second minute with a fantastic low drive into the bottom left of the goal, finding the back of the net for the first time in over a year and earning Calum Chambers his third assist of the season in all competitions.

Mesut Ozil doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 24th minute thanks to a stunning pass from Tomas Rosicky and neat finish from the German.

However, Brighton weren’t giving up without a fight and Chris O’Grady clawed one back just after half time before provider turned scorer, Rosicky, volleyed home Arsenal’s third.

The Seagulls managed to grab another in the 75th minute through Sam Baldock but, despite a valiant effort from the home team, it wasn’t enough and Arsenal went through to the fifth round where they beat Middlesbrough 2-0.

A 2-1 win at Old Trafford and another 2-1 victory in extra time against Reading ensured Arsenal got to the final, beating Aston Villa 4-0 and clinching the trophy for the second season in a row.
