Jack Wilshere continued to impress in AFC Bournemouth colours during his last outing on New Year’s Eve against managerless Swansea.

The visitors were victorious with a commanding 3-0 win, and Wilshere was unsurprisingly involved in the final third for sustained periods throughout.

Benik Afobe broke the deadlock after 25 minutes, but it was Wilshere’s close-control dribbling which helped his team-mate get the opportunity. He effortlessly skipped past the challenges of Alfie Mawson and Kyle Naughton on the edge of the box before unselfishly squaring the ball into the path of Ryan Fraser. Lukasz Fabianski was suddenly called into action and despite a good reaction stop to avoid conceding an own goal, he was helpless to stop Afobe slotting home from close-range.

Wilshere was constantly offering his services as a reliable passing outlet in the middle third, visibly calling for the ball to feet and his contribution proved pivotal in the build-up to Bournemouth’s second goal of the afternoon.

A quick passing exchange with Junior Stanislas on the edge of the box saw the 27-year-old winger through on-goal, but he unselfishly passed the ball across into the path of Fraser who made no mistake to score his second goal of the campaign in stoppage time.

He could’ve had an assist in the 55th minute, having battled hard to win and retain possession in the middle third after the interval. Leaping above both Modou Barrow and Ki Sung-Yueng to head the ball forward, he then instinctively played a one-two with Harry Arter to his right before driving forward towards goal. Stanislas was free to his right and having passed into the winger’s path, he was unfortunate to see the effort flash wide of the far post with Fabianski rooted to the spot.

He was involved defensively during moments where Swansea pushed men forward in search of a goal which could’ve made the final stages a nervy affair, making two interceptions and a clearance out of possession as Eddie Howe’s side made a collective effort to keep their clean sheet intact.

Substitute Joshua King put the icing on the cake with a well-taken finish from close-range in a well-deserved win.

Wilshere performed well once more and continues to impress, but will miss their next fixture on Tuesday evening.
