It’s been another frustrating weekend thus far for Arsenal’s players on loan spells away from the club.

Both the La Liga and Segunda División have returned to action this weekend, but both of our Spanish players away from the club didn’t feature.

Midfielder Jon Toral remained an unused substitute as league leaders Real Madrid romped to a 5-0 home victory, with reports suggesting a possible loan switch to Rangers is on the cards. The 21-year-old has only played 267 minutes of La Liga football thus far this term, which is disappointing to say the least for a player who has shown plenty of promise in recent seasons.

Julio Pleguezuelo wasn’t involved in Mallorca’s matchday squad as they prevailed with a 2-0 win over CD Mirandés. The 19-year-old fullback is in a similar situation to Toral in regards to minutes, having only completed a full match on one occasion (four appearances) in the second division this term.

What’s happened since the last loan update?

Defensive-minded midfielder Glen Kamara’s loan spell with Colchester United has come to an end, whilst Arsenal have unsurprisingly cut Ryan Huddart’s loan spell short from Eastleigh having only played five National League matches this season. With two other appearances in the FA Cup, the 19-year-old was decent when called upon but ultimately didn’t feature with regularly.

Elsewhere, creative midfielder Jack Wilshere was presumably rested by Eddie Howe as Bournemouth lost 3-0 away from home against League One side Millwall in their FA Cup third-round tie.

Who else could be in action this weekend?
