Following her retirement from the game, it was mentioned that Kelly Smith could move to a coaching job within the Arsenal Ladies staff.

Now, it looks like Kelly Smith is set to take over the Development Team manager’s job, although the club has yet to make an announcement.

It would not be the first time Kelly has coached the youth teams – she also coached the Arsenal Ladies Academy in the past. This was prior to moving to play in the WPS for the Boston Breakers.

The Development team is a u20 team integrated in the pathway to the first team. It is placed between the RTC u16 team and the first team. It used to be called the reserve team in the past and many players went through it before making it to the first team.

The team is currently in sixth place in the League, trailing Brighton by 12 points, but with six games in hand. The team are unbeaten in the League and in the Cup and will play Reading Development on Sunday in the FA WSL Development League Cup quarter-finals.
