Arsenal are reportedly getting ready to recall Jon Toral from his loan spell at Granada and could send him to Rangers in the SPL in the hopes of getting him more minutes.

The Spanish youngster was sent to the La Liga side at the start of the season but has played only 267 league minutes with just four starts and zero 90 minutes completed.

The Scottish site, the Daily Record, believes that Toral is Rangers’ manager, Mark Warburton’s top target for January. After sending Gedion Zelalem up north last season, a relationship is already in place between the clubs to help ease any possible transaction.

The Gers boss knows Toral well as he was a player he had at Griffin Park when he was manager of Brentford when Toral was on loan there in the 14/15 season. It is also claimed that Warburton is trying to use former Arsenal captain, Mikel Arteta, who is currently assistant manager at Manchester City, to help convince Toral to move to Arteta’s former club.

Toral appears to be out of contract in the summer and given how much time and money Arsenal have put into the player because of the genetic defect he suffered in both his knees, it’s hard to see them allowing him to run out the last six months of his current deal.

If TransferMarkt are correct, I would expect a new Arsenal deal to be agreed before any new loan deal.

Toral has just returned to full training after an ankle problem and has been declared fit to face Real Madrid at the weekend. Whether he will or not, is not clear but it seems unlikely given that he has
