Sam Allardyce appears to be biding his time when it comes to taking Carl Jenkinson on loan.

The former West Ham manager who’s just taken over at Crystal Palace, appeared to confirm recently that he’s up for taking Jenks on loan, claiming that he doesn’t know if he’s available yet but the club are looking to bolster their squad.

“We’ve not really got enough numbers at the moment,” Allardyce revealed.

“Certainly the chairman would like to sign a couple if possible, but finding two is hard enough and with today’s inflated prices you have to be certain they will work for you and make the team better.

“We’ve got one loan left and we would look at what is available. I don’t know whether he (Jenkinson) is yet.”

Jenks spent last season, before he picked up a season-ending knee injury, and the term before that on loan with West Ham. Therefore, he’s no stranger to temporary moves.

Plus, a loan move could be massive for the 24-year-old right now, as he’s been struggling with confidence issues since returning.

A Gooner through-and-through, there aren’t many Arsenal fans who want to see the back of Jenks but, as it is, he’s not good enough to even be included in the squad, let alone the starting XI ahead of Hector Bellerin.

A loan move could be his last chance.
