With just over a week left of the January transfer window remaining, there are still a number of Arsenal’s talented youngsters who will be eyeing loan moves before the end of the month.

Here’s an extended look at six players that could leave Arsenal for an opportunity of regular minutes at a competitive level on deals until the end of the current campaign.

Gedion Zelalem

The talented German-born USA international turns 20 later this week and has started on a regular basis for Arsenal’s u23 side this term.

He has impressed as a defensive-minded midfielder when called upon but it’s clear that he deserves regular minutes on loan elsewhere, in a competitive setting where he can battle with teammates for first-team action in the same vein he did with Rangers last season.

He is said to be close to a move to VVV Venlo in the Netherlands.

Chris Willock

The highly-rated prospect turns 19 on deadline day and netted his third goal of the campaign during a hard-fought 3-1 win over Southampton last week. With seven assists to his name this term, he has been impressive in patches but again, it’s a case of needing competitive minutes to further develop and improve his level of consistency over time.

Brentford were heavily linked with signing him on a loan deal earlier in the campaign but it’s important he joins a side where he’ll play regularly, whether that be in the Championship or League One football.

Ryan Huddart

Huddart made only seven appearances for Eastleigh this season, and it was no surprise that his loan was cut short with Arsenal exercising their option to recall him. The 19-year-old is a quality shot-stopper and would be a valuable asset to most English sides outside the top flight should he leave Arsenal this month.

Unless a team does make public their interest in him, and swiftly, he’ll obviously continue to train at London Colney but the number of talented goalkeepers vying for a regular starting spot in the u23 side means he’ll have limited minutes, if any, between now and the end of the season.

Chuba Akpom

A number of troublesome injuries in untimely fashion have seen the forward’s chances of breaking into the first-team increasingly unlikely as the months pass and competition for places continues to intensify, not least in attack-minded positions, and he’s going to have to leave Arsenal to get back to full-fitness and restart his career.

A trio of Championship clubs were believed to be monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress after recovering from a lengthy back problem and if he can recapture some of the impressive goalscoring form which made him so fearsome at youth level, he could well be in Wenger’s long-term plans.

Krystian Bielik

Last but not least, the Arsenal u23s captain himself.

Bielik has developed in leaps and bounds since his move from Legia Warsaw at the start of 2015 and his versatility has been an important cog within the youth teams over the past twelve months. Predominantly a defensive midfielder, after his arrival in north London he has been gradually taught how to play as an imposing centre-back and has all of the necessary attributes to play in both positions when required.

The next big step for him is judging whether he’s ready for a first-team promotion, and where his number one position should be across the pitch – a loan where he can play week in, week out, will undoubtedly help boost his reputation once he returns.
