On Saturday, Arsenal caused people to scratch their heads by not wearing black armbands in honour of Graham Taylor who recently passed away.

It was a surprise move from a club know for their class when it comes to this sort of thing and surely some sort of oversight from the club?

I contacted them to ask.

“We will be paying our respects to Graham Taylor through a tribute in Sunday’s matchday programme,” I was told by their Football and Communications manager, Tom Bennett.

“After his managerial career, Graham was a regular visitor to Arsenal during his time working with the BBC. He will be missed by many here at the Club.”

While this doesn’t exactly address the issue of the black armbands on Saturday, it’s excellent to see the club taking the time to pay tribute to a true gent of the game.
