Ben Sheaf has signed a contract extension with Arsenal.

The 18-year-old signed with the Gunners’ senior team in 2015 and has become a regular starter having already made 12 appearances in Premier League 2 this season. Last campaign, he scored four goals in all competitions, provided two assists and made 30 appearances for Steve Gatting’s side.

The versatile youngster, who can play in midfield or defence, has also been capped for England’s youth team.

The highly-rated teenager proved last season that he can be thrown into a position he’s uncomfortable with and still excel. In fact, he even got an honourable mention in our top three youth players of 2016 post for this very reason.

He’s developing well and there’s no surprise that Arsenal want to keep him on.

Let’s hope that he can continue to embrace this opportunity and perhaps we’ll see him on the fringes of the first team sooner than we originally thought.

Congratulations, Ben!
