Hector Bellerin has been named as the right-back with the highest transfer value by the CIES Football Observatory.
Compiling a list of the top 100 players with the highest transfer value, they also broke that down by position and it is the Arsenal man who comes out on top with a value of €70.3m.
Neymar was named as the player with the highest transfer value at present – outdoing both Messi and Ronaldo.
Top five
- Neymar €246.8m
- Lionel Messi €170.5m
- Paul Pogba €155.3m
- Antoine Griezman €150.4m
- Luiz Suarez €145.2m
Surprisingly, Harry Kane is ranked 6th at €139.2m, above Cristiano Ronaldo in 7th at €126.5m. Deli Ali (9th) was named as the highest value attacking midfielder, Paul Pogba in the category of central midfielders.
Hector Bellerin was ranked 28th, but the highest valued right-back at €70.3m. Mustafi came in at #40 and €60.5m. The only other Arsenal player included in the top 50 apart from Alexis at #20 and €76.3m. Mesut Ozil is, inexplicably, 62nd (€47.6m), and Granit Xhaka 63rd (€46m).
The values use a number of metrics including age and current contract length. Kane’s deal with Spurs until 2022 is a large part of why he is so far up the table. Similar could be said for Alli as well.
