Everything surrounding Andrea Belotti’s potential transfer to Arsenal just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

The Torino striker, who’s scored 13 goals in 17 Serie A appearances so far this season (four assists), has been heavily linked with a move to north London recently, with the Italian club’s Sporting Director, Gianluca Petrachi, confirming that they’d turned down a £50m+ bid for the 23-year-old.

However, according to the Independent, they’ve learned that this isn’t the case and that Arsenal aren’t bringing anyone in during the January window.

Although I’d usually be more likely to believe the word of an actual club official, Petrachi didn’t confirm when the bid was made, only that they’d had one and turned it down. Spending £50m+ in the winter window isn’t Arsene Wenger’s style and I’d be thoroughly surprised if we did splash out on anyone until the summer.

Saying this, our interest in the striker was at least clearly genuine.
