For some bizarre reason, Arsenal are being linked with Antoine Griezmann.

While I’m sure Arsenal had genuine interest in the France international a few seasons ago and even perhaps before the Euros. However, his massive buy-out clause, thought to be in the region of £76.6m, is something of a stumbling block.

The forward is having another amazing season with Atletico Madrid, scoring 10 goals and assisting six in 22 appearances. Although, he’s slowed down a bit over the past couple of months – he’s not scored in La Liga since October.

What’s odd about us being linked with the 25-year-old is the fact that he recently stated he was happy where he is in Spain.

Agent Laurent Koscielny asked him if he would like to sign for Arsenal in a special edition of France Football to celebrate the international winning France Player of the Year for 2016, to which Griezmann replied that he was happy where he was, in the nicest way he could.

It’s hardly a surprise.

According to reports, however, after Atletico slipped to sixth in the La Liga table recently, Griezmann COULD be looking to move, with Manchester United also linked.

COULD.

Hypothetically, Wenger could suddenly decide that Joey Barton is the player Arsenal have always needed. But it won’t happen.
