Arsenal Ladies have announced their first official friendly for the new season.

They will be playing Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munchen.

The game will be played on 1 February at 5pm GMT. Unfortunately for most of the Arsenal Ladies fan, the game will be played in Spain at the Luis del Sol training ground in Sevilla.

An interesting note is the organiser is the same agency that organised last year’s training camp in Spain. After all, if the camp was quality last year, it seems logical to come back working with them again.

This is also a quality opponent for the Arsenal Ladies as FC Bayern won the Allianz Frauen Bundesliga in 2015/16 by a 10-point margin over Vfl Wolfsburg, a team that the Ladies will also meet in a friendly in Portugal.

FC Bayern are currently in second place in the Bundesliga five points behind surprised leaders, Turbine Potsdam, and have a very strong squad

To name a few – Viviane Mediema from the Netherlands, Melanie Leupolz from Germany, Nora Holstad form Norway, Mana Iwabuchi from Japan, Lisa Evans from Scotland and recent FIFA player of the year nominee Melanie Behringer who was unlucky not to win the trophy.

It will an interesting test for Arsenal, as will be the Wolfsburg and Rosengard games and it is a shame that they are not easily accessible for the fans.

They will have to wait until the Kelly Smith celebration game to see the team in action.
