Alexis Sanchez has won Arsenal’s Vitality player of the month for December with a whopping 80.4% of the votes.

Although there’s usually a clear favourite as to which player wins the club award each month, I struggle to recall a time when it’s been THIS one-sided. However, what were the other options?

During December, the Chilean scored four goals, including his stunning hat-trick against West Ham, and assisted three. Four if you include our 4-1 away win against Basel in the Champions League.

Considering the 28-year-old has scored a total of 13 goals in the Premier League so far this season, four in one month is excellent.

It was a month most Arsenal fans would rather forget, with our 2-1 losses against Everton and Manchester City still weighing heavy. However, the one player to really shine in spite of those dropped points was Alexis.

In second place, with 7.1% of the votes was Mesut Ozil and third was Alex Iwobi with 6.5%, which you can’t really argue with. Ozil scored twice (West Ham, Stoke) and grabbed three assists, while 20-year-old Iwobi also scored two goals (Stoke, FC Basel).

Therefore, in terms of overall contribution to the team during December, Alexis wins by a landslide.
