Chuba Akpom is closing in on a move to Brighton until the end of the season although nothing has been agreed with he player one of ‘several’ that they are interested in.

The forward, who has missed a large portion of the season due to a back injury could seal a move before the window closes at 11pm on Tuesday night.

Still only 21, big things are expected of the youngster who will no doubt be keen to get back on the pitch playing competitive football.

The Mirror claim his loan at Hull last season was something of a disappointment due to him not being a regular fixture in the side. This is nonsense. He played in 35 Championship games, 16 of which were starts, while averaging 51 minutes per game. He played a total of 41 games last season, amassing 2,152 minutes (52.5 per game on average over all competitions).

Akpom has one appearance for Arsenal this season – in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest. He grabbed one assist in that match. In his four Premier League 2 games, he has scored three and assisted one.
