With Arsenal traveling to Championship side, Preston North End, this Saturday, an upset could be on the cards.

Arsenal are no stranger to an FA Cup shock, as we take a look at here.

Wrexham 2-1 Arsenal (1992)

Perhaps the most mentioned FA Cup upset in Arsenal’s history is the Gunners’ 2-1 loss to Wrexham in the third round back in 1992.

At the time, the Gunners were managed by George Graham and had won the First Division the previous season but ended up finishing fourth that term. However, even so, no one expected them to lose to a Fourth Division team in February.

Goals from Mickey Thomas and Steve Watkin cancelled out Alan Smith’s opener, although Arsenal had a goal disallowed.

Arsenal 1-2 Watford (2016)

Last season’s loss to the Hornets at home was a weird one.

It was during a really rough stage in our season; we’d lost at home to Swansea City in the Premier League a couple of weeks earlier, a result which changed a lot of Gooners’ opinions on Wenger for good. However, after we managed an unlikely 2-2 draw away to Spurs and then trounced Hull 4-0 in the previous round of the FA Cup, I think it’s fair to say we fancied our chances against Watford.

We had beat them 3-0 on their turf earlier in the season, after all.

However, a 50th-minute goal from Odion Ighalo followed 14 minutes later by another from Adlène Guedioura meant that when Danny Welbeck found the net in the 88th, we were already pretty much out.

Arsenal 0-1 Blackburn Rovers (2013)

For some reason, Arsenal love losing at home to teams we should be registering a cricket score against.

Despite Arsenal dominating the fixture, it was Colin Kazim-Richards’ goal in the 72nd minute that counted.

Luckily we went on to win it the following season, eh?

Walsall 2-0 Arsenal (1933)

Back in 1933, Herbert Chapman’s Arsenal were the best team in the country so to lose to Walsall so comprehensibly was massively embarrassing.

So much so that Chapman actually sacked the defender responsible for the goals on the train on the way home!

Arsenal go 2-0 down to Hull City at Wembley (2014)

Although we eventually came back through Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny and then eventually Aaron Ramsey in extra time to beat Hull 3-2, I’d still say going 2-0 down to them in the first place was a shock.

Well, except if you’re at Arsenal fan, I guess.

Arsenal hadn’t won ANYTHING for nine years; a fact many loved to remind us of. This was our chance to win a trophy and start the ball rolling.

However, when Hull went 1-0 through James Chester in the fourth minute, closely followed by Curtis Davies in the 8th, I will never forget that sick feeling in my gut.

I just remember moronically repeating to everyone in the room: “We’ve f**ked it.”

But we hadn’t.

As we all now know, Cazorla gave us hope in the 17th minute before Kos finally equalised in the second half, almost injuring himself in the process.

Rambo’s extra time goal will go down as one of his best moments, if not THE best, in an Arsenal shirt. What a time.

And certainly shocking…
