Rio Ferdinand took UK TV punditry to new levels of ignorance on Wednesday night when he admitted he’s been wondering where Lucas Perez has been for the last few weeks.

Speaking during the break, after Lucas had grabbed the first two goals of his hattrick, Ferdinand said, “I’ve been asking ‘where is Perez?’ for a few weeks. He’s turned up today.”

Where has he been?

WHERE HAS HE BEEN?

He’s been injured, you absolute plank.

Is it really too much to ask that the people who are paid obscene amounts of money, that comes from the ridiculous monthly subscription fees us customers have to pay, do even minimal research about the players and teams they are talking about?

It doesn’t seem to be a lot to ask, does it? A lot less than BT ask for their subscription fee, that’s for sure.

In case you’re still wondering, Rio, as I mentioned, he was injured. He had an ankle injury that he picked up in the EFL Cup game against Reading in October. It was in the news quite a bit.

So was his return.

For the future, Google might help before games. Just a little tip for me to you.
