Claude Puel believes that Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe, is a ‘good choice’ for the Arsenal job once Arsene Wenger leaves.

The 55-year-old played under Wenger when he was Monaco manager and therefore knows his fellow Frenchman pretty well. So when he says that Howe would be a good successor in north London, people are bound to listen.

Speaking recently, the ex-midfielder praised Howe’s management technique, likening his philosophy and style to that of his former boss, Wenger.

“Eddie has the same philosophy as Wenger,” Claude said.

“Eddie likes good technical players, like Arsene. If one day he can manage Arsenal, that would be a good choice.

“It is always important when a team has a good philosophy to keep this philosophy with the same profile of players. It is important to keep the same quality, same spirit. It is important to continue this good work.”

Howe has been backed for the Arsenal job for a while now, so the link is nothing new. However, as we near the end of Le Professeur’s contract at the club, more and more questions are going to be asked.

While personally I do feel as if the boss will stay, since Hector Bellerin has signed a new long-term deal with the club and the right-back has credited Wenger’s presence at the club as one of the main reasons, it’s completely justified to start asking who might take over.

Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone has also been heavily linked with the job after reducing his contract with the La Liga club from 2020 to 2018. However, Howe still remains 2/1 favourite.
