Arsene Wenger seemed rather perplexed by reports linking Alexis Sanchez with a move to the Chinese Super League.

Over the past couple of days, various sources, including the Guardian, have been linking Alexis with a £400,000 a week move to China.

He wouldn’t be the first, either. Brazilian international, Hulk, is one star who reportedly earns an absolute fortune in China.

It’s claimed that Alexis will use this offer as a negotiation device in order to encourage Arsenal to offer him a better contract.

When asked about the bizarre story during his pre-Stoke press conference, Wenger seemed rather confused by the link. Although he admitted it’s probably true, they would be willing to offer the Chilean £400,000 a week, he doesn’t understand why the player would WANT to move to the Chinese Super League when you’re already playing in the Premiership.

“I believe it, yes, why not?” Wenger said.

“But why should you go to China when you’re playing in England today?”

A move to the Chinese League is pretty transparent. Players who want a massive wage are free to go there and dazzle fans who aren’t used to seeing their quality. They’re heroes. Very well paid heroes.

I don’t see Alexis going anywhere which didn’t present at least some challenge.
