Arsene Wenger was asked about a number of Arsenal players’ contracts during his pre-Manchester City presser on Friday.

While the boss was agitated at being asked about Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s contract negotiations yet again, he did bring up a couple of others players who are rumoured to be signing on with the Gunners soon.

Recently the French press have been reporting that Olivier Giroud, Francis Coquelin and Laurent Koscielny are all due to sign extensions with the club. Wenger appeared to confirm that we’re at least in talks with the three stars by claiming that as soon as there are any developments, he’ll share them.

Kieran Gibbs

However, another player, who we’ve not heard a lot about is Kieran Gibbs. The left-back is also out of contract in 2018 and, since he’s finding it so hard to get game time behind Nacho Monreal, there’s a very real possibility he could leave.

“It’s the same case,” Wenger said.

“We cannot make a case of every single contract negotiation. Personally I think that Gibbs should stay here.”

I’m not convinced that we’ll see Gibbo in an Arsenal shirt next season and you couldn’t really blame him for going in search of better game time. It’ll be a shame, though.
