Arsene Wenger believes that it will be ‘absolutely marvellous’ if Chelsea beat Arsenal’s winning run record.

Antonio Conte’s men are closing in on the record Arsenal set in the 2001/02 season when they won 13 games in a row. Needing just one more win to equal the record, a reporter asked Arsene Wenger about the possibility that they will take the record from him.

His answer was class, as always.

“Well, what they do is fantastic, if they do it it’s absolutely marvellous because nobody expected that at the start of the season.

“They had a little bit a dodgy start, but since they changed their system then they are on a run, confidence plays a big part. If they do it, you can only say ‘well done’.

“Records are only there to be beaten and if someone does better than you, you have to acknowledge that and say ‘well done’”.

Chelsea face Stoke at Stamford Bridge on New Year’s Eve. Should they win that game and equal Arsenal’s record, they would then be able to break it against Spurs at White Hart Lane.

What a dilemma that will be for Arsenal fans…
