Granit Xhaka returned to his former club, Borussia Monchengladbach, this week in order to properly say goodbye.

The midfielder spent four years at the Bundesliga club before signing for Arsenal seven months ago and, upon his return, the fans gave him a hero’s welcome ahead of their 2-1 defeat to Wolfsburg.

The 24-year-old played 140 games for the German club while there, scoring nine goals and assisting eight.

During his time there, the Switzerland international also picked up 35 yellow cards and six red (only one straight red mind), prompting the Gladbach Twitter account to joke about how his farewell sign should have been a giant yellow card.

Love a bit of banter, do Gladbach.
