According to a report in Calciomercato, the Romanian media see 17-year-old Vlad Dragomir as the next Toni Kroos, while in London he’s viewed as Mesut Ozil’s ‘heir’.

While I have heard good things about the Romanian attacking midfielder, I’ve not heard him described as the next Ozil before. Although, it’s understandable that the media in his own country would compare him to Real Madrid’s Kroos.

“Dragomir is considered one of the best talents of Romanian football,” the piece says.

“In homeland they compare him to Kroos, in London they see him as the heir to Ozil, who has the same foot.”

Since signing for Arsenal in July 2015, Dragomir has played seven times for our u23s in Premier League 2 (earning an assist) and for our u19s in the UEFA Youth League six times. He’s scored once for them.

Considering he’s just 17, this is a decent return and I’m sure his time on the pitch will only increase with his experience.

According to the same report in Calciomercato, Arsenal understand that he’s got some way to go before he does actually reach Ozil’s level, but we’re hopeful that he will get there.

Let’s wait and see, shall we?
