Hector Bellerin has more assists since making his Arsenal debut than Bacary Sagna had during his entire final five years at the club.

The 21-year-old made his debut for Arsenal’s senior team back in the League Cup in September 2013. However, he didn’t really hit his stride until two seasons ago when he was brought in due to an injury to Mathieu Debuchy. Since then, we’ve never looked back and Bellerin has developed into one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League.

Since his debut, he’s made 12 assists.

His (sort of) predecessor, Bacary Sagna, who signed for Manchester City in 2014, only managed 11 during the final five years in north London.

So, what does this tell us?

Sagna has 12 years on Bellerin, yet the Spain international is already looking as if he could become one of the best right-backs in the world.

Although Sagna did his job well enough at Arsenal and it was a shame to see him go, I have no doubt we’ve ended up with the better deal.
