Ryan Shawcross has been ruled out of Stoke’s trip to Arsenal on Saturday.

The centreback is still recovering from a calf injury that’s kept him sidelined for the Potters’ last two Premier League clashes against Watford and Burnley, confirmed the Potters’ manager, Mark Hughes.

Predictably, Arsenal fans everywhere breathed a sign of relief upon hearing the news that the player who broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg back in 2010 wouldn’t be on the pitch. Despite the incident occurring over six years ago, it’s something that still annoys the fans and probably affects the players.

Ramsey has only just returned from a hamstring injury he picked up on the opening day of the season and, since he played alongside Granit Xhaka in central midfield against FC Basel on Tuesday, there’s a chance he could feature again.

I’m sure not having Shawcross on the pitch will help his confidence. Although, saying that, since Tony Pulis left, Stoke have been a lot less kicky than they used to be.

Can’t say the same for their fans though.
