A hat-trick from Jamie Vardy, as well as a well-taken strike courtesy of Andy King from range helped Leicester to an unlikely home victory against Manchester City in Saturday’s evening kick-off.

The defeat is City’s third of the season, having lost 2-0 away against Tottenham at the start of October and more recently, 3-1 in their home fixture with Chelsea last weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s side have received criticism of late for their inability to turn dominance in matches into more goals scored and despite qualifying for the last-16 of this season’s Champions League, the Sky Blues have endured topsy-turvy form after an encouraging start to proceedings under new management in the summer.

Late goals from Aleksandar Kolarov and substitute Nolito ultimately proved futile as the visitors’ defensive frailties were exposed, just a week before they entertain Arsenal in an intriguing Premier League clash next Sunday.

The result leaves them in fourth place, with 30 points from 15 games played. Tottenham can leapfrog them, provided they are victorious at Old Trafford against Manchester United today.

Arsenal’s win against Stoke now means that City are four points off the pace with second-placed Chelsea in the driving seat. Level on points, they’ve scored four less goals than us but play West Brom in today’s (Sunday) lunchtime kick-off from 12pm and are expected to run out comfortable winners.
