According to recent reports in both Goal and the Telegraph, highly-rated Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has publicly revealed his desire to play for Arsenal at some stage in the future.

The talented 19-year-old who currently plays for KAS Eupen in the Belgian Pro League, has scored ten goals and created six assists in all competitions thus far this term.

Despite this though, his side are struggling to accumulate consistent results. They languish uncomfortably in 14th place with 20 matches played and they’ve only picked up 17 points this season to date.

The winger, who can play on either flank as well as operate as a centre forward, is yet to make his senior debut at international level but it’s likely that he’ll get a call-up in the coming months if he continues to impress with this type of form.

He was quoted as saying the following by Belgian newspaper Het Niewusblad, when questioned about his future ambitions: “I believe I have the level to one day play in the Champions League. The Premier League is my dream league, although I would rather go to Arsenal. I’m a huge Arsenal fan, Thierry Henry is my idol.”

Given the fact he’s a highly-rated teenager with plenty of years ahead, it’s unsurprising to see these comments from a player with good self-belief: one that feels he’ll be able to achieve a lot of success as he matures into a better all-round player with age and experience.

Arsenal have been linked with numerous talented starlets so it’s unlikely that they’d be interested in signing Onyekuru at present, but he could potentially be a player that is being monitored by scouts with regularity as he continues to improve.
