Aaron Ramsey has admitted that his season so far has been ‘frustrating’ as he continues to suffer injury problems.

The midfielder returned to the side on Boxing Day, and he told the official Arsenal programme this about his return, “Yeah, it felt good coming on the other day, so hopefully now I can get some more minutes under my belt and next I want to build it up and stay fit. It’s obviously been a very frustrating season for me so far, especially coming off a very good Euros with Wales.

“I wanted to kick on and get going this season, but it’s been a bit stop-start again. It’s something that I am trying to work on and I’m trying to find out what’s right for me – hopefully that will be the case from now on and I can stay fit.

He was then asked what the hardest thing to deal with when he was out the side, to which he replied, “It’s a combination of a few things. The mental side is certainly part of it, you want to get consistency in your game and feel comfortable, but as soon as you are in and out of the team you have to keep doing the same routines and get back to full fitness each time, so it takes a while.

“You have to get your fitness up in training and work your way back in, so it is frustrating but now I’m just looking forwards and hoping to stay fit.”

So far this season, Ramsey has missed 92 days and 19 games through injury. Over the past three seasons, upper leg problems have meant that Ramsey has missed 322 days and 69 games.
