I forgot how to write miserable player ratings.

Tonight was one of the worst performances of the season so far and only our 2nd defeat in the league, so naturally, it makes me even more angry. All our players looked off and the whole match was kind of odd without any enjoyable moments. We didn’t deserve more and yet still could have easily won it or at least drawn. Oh well.

Petr Čech – 7

For most of the first half, Petr didn’t have much to do, with only one shot on target from Everton and he couldn’t do much with that one. He had a massive save just before they scored their second, where, again, he couldn’t do much.

Hector Bellerin – 6

He still looks a bit rusty, but it’s understandable, it’s his first start after injury. Not a very good performance both defensively and in attack.

Gabriel – 6.5

Left Koscielny to defend against two players for their first goal but good otherwise, much better than many expected. He lost a ball or two in second half where it could have been avoided but managed to save it. He did great keeping Lukaku quiet for most of the match.

Laurent Koscielny – 6.5

The man. Intercepted so many attacks from Everton, saved us again a few times. Maybe could have done better for their first, but, as I said above, Gabriel didn’t help at all. Scared me a bit in first half while he was limping but looked good for the rest of the match.

Nacho Monreal – 6.5

Nacho looked really good tonight, especially going forward, although without any proper final product. He joined quite a few attacks, and luckily didn’t get caught on the back. Defensively, he had that rather clumsy clearance that almost was a goal in first half. So close to scoring in the dying minutes.

Francis Coquelin – 6.5

The old Coquelin was back with some very Coquesque tackles during whole match, but he did well going forward and it was a tackle on him that got us the free kick for the only goal. He was okay overall, lots of #pashun, especially keeping his boy Mesut safe during half time.

Granit Xhaka – 6

I’m a big Xhaka fan and don’t like it when people jump on him as they love to do since he got here, but… He was looking good in first half, lots of (sideways) passes, great link between defense and attack, and then he got kind of lost in 2nd half, much like the rest of midfield. He didn’t do much stupid today, so that’s okay.

Theo Walcott – 5

If I had a penny for every “Is Walcott on the pitch” comment against Everton! Sadly, for most of the match, the comments weren’t too far off. Theo was practically invisible until he didn’t cover Baines who then crossed to Coleman who scored. He didn’t do anything up front.

Mesut Özil – 6

It was an off day for Mesut, this Tuesday. He had quite a few wrong passes and, more importantly, missed some really good chances. That chance in 2nd half, it should have been taken much much better. A match to forget for him, and motivation to do much better on Sunday – we will need it.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain – 5.5

People were torn over who was worse, Theo or Ox. Unlike Theo, Ox was at least trying to create something up front, although not too successfully. Very poor match, which is surprising for me since he was looking pretty good only few days ago.

Alexis Sanchez – 7

Alexis was our MOTM only because he scored our only goal, although with a little help from Williams. He was, as always, trying to create something but it didn’t really work that well, but he surely kept Everton awake in defense. There was a penalty on him in dying minutes which, shocker, Clattenburg didn’t give (let’s face it, we’d probably miss it anyway).

Olivier Giroud – 6

Had a chance to score after he came on but was off target.

Alex Iwobi – 6

Could have easily been the hero but his shot was blocked in last second of the match.

Lucas Perez – 5

Didn’t do much besides getting Jagielka sent off. But who even noticed that?
