Boxing Day came and went and although Arsenal did their best to be as frustrating as possible for as long as possible, they eventually gave in and handed us a little sliver of Christmas cheer with a late winner.

During the match it occurred to me that Mesut Ozil seemed, yet again, to be having another poor game. He seemed disinterested, well, more than he normally seems and generally not quite at it. But that’s the thing with Mesut Ozil  – he isn’t designed to be watched on the TV.

To truly see what he does on a pitch you have to watch him in the flesh.

Watching him live is a totally different experience to watching him in fits and bits on TV. His off-the-ball work is rarely shown.

Against West Brom, the German, despite appearing to be off-colour, created six chances and the only assist.

People dream of being as good as Ozil is on a ‘bad’ day.
