Petr Cech has taken some time to look back over 2016 and one of the things about Arsenal that’s stood out for him was their unity.

The goalkeeper, who signed for Arsenal from Chelsea in 2015, believes the Gunners’ spirit is brilliant and this is what can help us in 2017.

“I think it’s been the unity of the team throughout the year [that has stood out most],” Cech said.

“We’ve got a great bunch of players and unity in the team. This was something which stands out for me.

“We’ve been in difficult moments but the spirit is so good that we’ve been able to react.”

I’m not sure I can completely agree with the former Czech international following some of our performances this season but I guess he’s training with them every day so probably knows better.

Although, since he’s paid by the club, he’s hardly going to admit that, at times, we look as if we don’t even know each other on the pitch.

As long as we’re all having fun off it though, that’s fine I guess…

I kid.

It’s good that he feels the spirit is positive because that’s what we need when the going gets tough in order to pick ourselves back up again.
