According to TodomercadowebArsenal are not only interested in 23-year-old Real Madrid striker, Mariano Diaz, but he would not say no to a transfer to north London.

The Dominican born forward has scored four goals and assisted one in just two Copa del Rey appearances for Real. In fact, just days ago he scored a hattrick against CyD Leonesa.

Reportedly, he’s caught Arsenal eye and, according to Spanish journalist, Anton Meana, he would be more than willing to move if it was for a club like the Gunners.

“Mariano said that, unless he gets an offer he wouldn’t be able to turn down, like Arsenal, he will stay and doesn’t want to leave in January,” Meana claimed.

So, who is Anton Meana other than a Spanish journo and is he reliable?

He has almost 40k followers on Twitter, not that that means much these days, and is also followed by Marca.

Apparently, Arsenal have been linked with the 23-year-old for a while although this is the first we’re really hearing of it. However, the link makes sense. We could well be looking for a capable back-up up front, considering we don’t know how quickly or how well Danny Welbeck will recover from his knee injury.

We also don’t know how well Lucas Perez will continue to bed into the side or whether Olivier Giroud will throw all his toys out of the pram and leave.

We might not be interested at all. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we were at the very least keeping our options open.
