Despite seemingly confirming that he wanted to stay at his current club, Red Bull Salzburg,  Dayotchanculle Upamecano is still being linked with moves to Bayern Munich, Monaco, Barcelona, Juventus and, obviously, Arsenal.

The 18-year-old only recently seemed to suggest that he wanted to stay at his current Bundesliga club having signed for them for a reported £2m last year.

Speaking the the club’s website, he said:

“I feel very comfortable here in Salzburg, both in the team and the city. My family have been here for a year and have supported me throughout this time but now I’m ready to be here alone.”

However, according to reports, he’s still attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, such as Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus, Monaco and Bayern Munich. Oh yeah, and Arsenal.

Although his current contract with Salzburg runs out in 2018, he seems to be happy to continue to develop there, where he gets regular game time. If he moved to a bigger club, minutes on the pitch, especially for a senior team, would be few and far between.

What I do find odd though is that he claims to be happy but it appears that someone’s put word out that he’s not since so many clubs are being linked. This is usually a tactic used by agents to make their client seem like hot property, thus boosting their prices and wages.

Of course, it could all be innocent, but when is it?
