It seems that now Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has found his shooting boots, he never wants to stop scoring.

The winger scored an absolutely beautiful goal against West Ham during Arsenal’s 5-1 mauling and after being rewarded for his good work in the EFL Cup midweek with a rare start, had another solid game.

The England international hasn’t just surpassed his goal and assist tally from last season (two goals, two assists), he’s smashed it, scoring six and assisting five in just 20 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking after the match, the Ox must have been over the moon considering he didn’t have the best start to the season, yet he still managed to remain level-headed, humble and eloquent as ever.

“I’m really happy in the end to get on the scoresheet,” he said.

“Once you start getting one goal or opportunities open up, your hunger for it grows even more and I think I’ve seen that over the years in Alexis. He scores two and he’s unhappy he hasn’t scored a hat-trick.

“That was almost the way I was feeling today. After I scored my first I was keen to go and score a second and a third. That’s what you need, you need that hunger to keep pushing you to strive to do better.”

The 23-year-old’s performance was far from perfect; in the first half, he was frustratingly wasteful despite getting in brilliant positions. However, he’s coming along leaps and bounds. Now that he’s scoring goals and staying fit, he should only continue to improve.
