Speaking to ESPN Brazil, Manchester City midfielder, Fernando, admitted that his side were aggressive against Arsenal, which is what you need to do in order to beat the top teams.

Saying this, there’s no way of telling he meant aggressive in a physical sense or just their attacking approach in the second half, since it was actually Arsenal who appeared to resort to just kicking the City players around the pitch during the final 10 minutes.

“To play against Arsenal is always very difficult,” he said.

“We knew it would be a six-point match. Because these are two teams who fight on top. So we knew this win would be important. We played well, better in the second half. We were very aggressive. That’s why the result was good.”

The 2-1 win means a lot to the City players, which suggests that perhaps we were bigger opposition than many like to give us credit for.

Well, not anymore, anyway.

Even though it’s early in the season and I like to be optimistic, how many times have we been in this position? Down in fourth after a bad week and thinking it’ll get better, yet it never really does.

Fortunately, we now have a week to rest and sort out heads out before we host West Brom on Boxing Day. Let’s use the time wisely.
