Mathieu Debuchy has made his position at Arsenal pretty much untenable following a recent interview with L’Equipe.

The Frenchman has made it clear before that he wants to leave Arsenal for regular playing time and with the January transfer window fast approaching, he’s gone all out this time.

In an interview with L’Equipe, the right-back said he didn’t appreciate Wenger blocking his move to Manchester United and didn’t understand why he did it.

“I wasn’t playing a lot, it was United, there’s nothing else to say,” he said.

“For me, it was almost unexpected, but the coach said no.

“It’s something I did not appreciate. He wasn’t using me, so I didn’t see his interest in doing that.”

He also went on to say that him and the coach barely acknowledge each other.

I’d be surprised if Debuchy is an Arsenal player past January. There’s one thing wanting to move for more game time and making that clear publicly since no one appears to be coming for him. However, undermining and criticising your current manager, whether you want to leave or not, is pretty poor form. And he’ll know this.

Debuchy recently returned from apparently being injured, although no one really knows where he disappeared to, and played 13 minutes against Bournemouth before tearing his hamstring and having to come off.

I suppose that was Wenger’s fault as well.
