Arsenal’s general secretary, David Miles, has revealed that contract negotiations between Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and the Gunners are looking good.

The club has been trying to tie both stars down to new deals since they’ve only got 18 months left on their existing ones. However, since Arsene Wenger understandably plays his cards close to his chest so as to not weaken the club’s position, we know very little about the progress of said negotiations.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Everton, the boss was tight-lipped about the whole situation, merely saying:

“What my head and my heart is telling me is: don’t talk about it anymore!”

Obviously, David Miles didn’t get the memo and has revealed that the talks are going well.

“Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts,” Miles told BT Sport.

“At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way.”

In my heart, I do think both Ozil and Alexis are staying and I don’t think Miles would be so open about it if talks weren’t already in an advanced stage.

The season is in full swing, we’re doing well and both players will probably just be concentrating on their football right now while their people thrash out numbers and requests.

Hopefully, an agreement is met in the not-too-distant future.
