Just a day ago it was reported that Arsenal were eyeing up Goncalo Guedes as an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replacement and now we’ve been spotted scouting him.

Well, I say scouting him. One of our scouts was at Benfica’s 2-0 win over Rio Ave on Wednesday night, naturally adding fuel to the fire.

The forward is being viewed as a replacement for the Ox since the Ox only has 18 months left on his Arsenal contract and might be looking for a club he could get more game time at. This is despite the fact that he’s actually started to get pretty regular starts with the Gunners.

As we previously pointed out, 20-year-old Guedes isn’t currently a better option that the Ox. Plus, he’s less experienced. If we really were going to show Oxlade-Chamberlain the door, I’d imagine it would be for a far better player considering we already have Alex Iwobi to stand in.
