Arsenal and Chelsea are apparently both keen on Genoa midfielder, Diego Laxalt.

The 23-year-old has been reported to be on our radar, despite Chelsea also wanting him in order to replace Oscar, who has been linked with a move to China.

Laxalt has been capped twice for Uruguay and has scored just once (two assists) in Serie A this season. It’s something but, considering the level of attacking midfielder we already have at Arsenal, it’s hardly anything to write home about. If he was a teenager, maybe, but at 23? I don’t think so.

The original report appears to come from Tuttomercatoweb and has been picked up by the Irish Mirror. So, overall, not massively reliable, although it’s interesting that it’s spread.

As usual, I’d take this with a truckload of salt. We don’t need more midfielders, not at his age when we’ve got world class talent already in that area.
