As we enter December, it has taken no time at all for the transfer rumour mill to kick into gear and links are starting to arrive with increased regularity.

The Daily Mirror are claiming that Arsenal are on alert over Julian Draxler with the player being booed by his own fans this weekend. Other outlets are claiming we will spend €20m on Carlos Bacca – both players we’ve been linked with heavily in the past.

Draxler reportedly said after the game, “I don’t think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person – it certainly doesn’t help you.

“There’s no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field.

“I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.”

Wolfsburg recently spoke about Draxler’s summer comments and seemed to think that we wouldn’t see a repeat of what happened at the end of last season.

They seem to be deluding themselves.

But neither of these transfers will happen, at least not in January.

Wolfsburg don’t want to sell their star man and after holding on to him in the summer, despite the player saying he wanted to leave, they have zero incentive to sell him in the middle of the season. Plus, there’s the small matter of his release clause which comes into play in the summer. Any sale before that would likely be below the €75m clause that can be activated when the season ends.

As for Bacca, why would we be buying a striker? We have Alexis. We have Olivier Giroud. We also have Danny Welbeck soon to return and Lucas Perez already back.
