If you’re one of the people complaining that we haven’t or won’t recall Jack Wilshere from his loan spell at Bournemouth, listen up.

After Santi Cazorla was confirmed to be booked in to undergo surgery on the ankle injury he sustained against Ludogorets back in October, everyone simultaneously turned to Wilshere, then to Wenger, then back to Wilshere again.

Now that the 24-year-old is fit and getting regular game time for the Cherries, it seems logical that he would be the first choice to stand in for Santi, who’s set to be out for at least two months. Probably more.

However, no can do.

Thanks to Reddit user, Cechedout, as well as the FA’s official handbook, we can confirm that since Jack is on a long term loan deal, not short term like Francis Coquelin was when we recalled him from Charlton Athletic, he can’t be recalled.

“A Player on Long Term Loan may not be recalled, except for a goalkeeper or where the Player is to be transferred permanently by the Club (or club) holding his registered contract.

“A Player other than a goalkeeper so recalled cannot be permitted to play for the Club (or club) holding his registration after such recall until the end of the Playing Season.

“Players so recalled can only be replaced by a further Long Term Loan with permission from the Company.”

Since we’re clearly not planning on loaning or selling Wilshere back out considering Arsene Wenger only recently said that we want to tie the midfielder down to a new contract, it seems we won’t be able to bring in Super Jack.
