Monday’s rumour mill brought the strange story that Alexis Sanchez will only sign a new contract with Arsenal if Arsene Wenger leaves.

The Chilean has 18 months left on his existing contract and it’s well-known that we’re trying to get him to sign a new one now. However, reports coming from Spain are suggesting that, on top of £300,000-a-week wages, he wants Wenger to leave.

The boss is out of contract at the end of the season and while it’s been speculated that he could be signing a one-year rolling contract, this is far from confirmed. For all we know, he could be off come summer and we don’t know who will step in.

However, according to these wild reports, if he doesn’t go, Alexis will.

Does Alexis really disagree with Wenger’s methods that vehemently that he would not only demand £300,000-a-week but force a manager who’s been at Arsenal for 20 years to leave?

I don’t think so. Although, I’ve been wrong before.
