Zlatan Ibrahimovic has aimed a dig at Premier League officials after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season meaning he will miss the showdown with Arsenal at Old Trafford after the international break.

Ibra has found the net seven times for United since he arrived in the summer with most of his goals coming against the so-called ‘lesser teams’ (Bournemouth, Southampton x2, Swansea x2). The only ‘big’ side he’s managed to score against so far has been City when he grabbed United’s consolation in their 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Against Liverpool, Leicester (they are the Champions) and Chelsea in the league, he drew a blank, although he did score against the Foxes in the Community Shield at the start of the season.

At the time of writing, there are two different apologies doing the rounds – the one in the UK press and the one in the Swedish.

They are a little bit different.

From the Mirror (via MUTV) “In England, the football is hard, it’s physical. I just have to accept it. I’ve got to be professional.

“I’m sorry I am suspended for the next game.

“I wish I wasn’t as it’s a game I really wanted to play in.

“But I have trust in my team-mates and the team and I know they can do fine also without me.”

From Sweden “I thought it was England we played in. But every time I play hard, I get a yellow card. I do not know why the referee gave me the yellow, maybe I was too tired to hear. But I sacrifice myself for the team and I get a yellow card, I take it.

“It is what it is. Football is tough in England, it is physical. I must accept it. I must behave professionally. I’m sorry I am suspended for the next game.

“I wish I wasn’t as it’s a game I really wanted to play in.

“But I have trust in my team-mates and the team and I know they can do fine also without me.”

I wonder why the Mirror didn’t think the first part of this quote was worth reporting?
