Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal will indeed be offering Jack Wilshere a new contract.

The midfielder, who’s currently on loan at Bournemouth, who the Gunners face at home on Sunday, is out of contract in north London in 2018. Considering the recent interviews he’s given, it doesn’t seem as if he sees his future with the club he’s been at since he was a kid. He wants regular first team football and Arsenal can’t offer him that.

“It’s difficult for me to say because I love Arsenal and I’ve had great times there, and they’ve been great for me, and I can still see myself playing there,” he said.

“But who knows what the future holds? I’ve got a year left when I go back there.

“At the moment I’m just trying to have a season where it puts me in a good position at the end of the year, I’m improved as a player and Arsenal want me back, and we’ll see where we go from there.

“I always thought to myself ‘of course I love Arsenal’ but if there comes a time where I have to leave, then I have to leave, you know? If I go back and I’m not going to be playing, then, of course, I have to think about things.

“But at the moment I’m concentrating on Bournemouth. I want to put myself in a position where I go back next year and I’m a better player, and I’m fitter, and I can prove to people I can play week in, week out, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

What’s more is that AC Milan have reportedly been sniffing around after beginning talks with the 24-year-old during the summer over a loan move.

More recently, however, there have been claims that Arsenal are going to offer the England international a new contract, which Wenger has now confirmed will happen.

“Of course [Arsenal will offer him a new contract],” the boss said during his presser ahead of our Bournemouth clash.

“Ideally [it will be addressed before next summer].

“We have to plan around the new year.”

Will Jack want to sign a new contract is the issue and I think a lot depends on whether we keep Santi Cazorla, since the little Spaniard’s deal comes to an end in June. If we keep Cazorla, I see Wilshere waving goodbye to the club for good. If we don’t, that’s where we make room.

I really don’t want to lose Santi though.
