Theo Walcott met with the press shortly after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday and seemed genuinely surprised to be asked about their disappointing performance.

There is no hiding from the fact that Arsenal deserved nothing, once again, from their trip to Manchester and were rescued by Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Here’s how Theo’s interview went:

Reporter: Great point, but were you disappointing? Were you not the Arsenal [of] this season?

Theo: [eyes pop open] Well, urh, that’s a bit harsh. We started off the season very well. We’ve had a bit of a blip and still get points. In years go by we would have probably lost this game.

He did, to his credit, take responsibility for his role in United’s goal, highlighting how he wants to do better at the defensive side of the game but be unable to acknowledge how poo Arsenal were is maybe part of the problem here.
