Aaron Ramsey has revealed why he finally chose Arsenal over Manchester United when he signed for us from Cardiff City in 2008.

Back in 2008, Aaron Ramsey had more or less agreed a deal with Manchester United. In fact, the deal was so ‘on’ that the club even announced it on their official website.

However, at the last minute, Arsene Wenger rode in and nabbed the teenager right from under Sir Alex Ferguson’s nose.

Explaining the decision, Rambo admits that once he’d met with Wenger, there was no going back. That was it.

“I had to make a decision at the time [of signing for the club],” the 25-year-old told Arsenal Player.

“I flew over to see the boss and I knew straight away that this was where I wanted to be, I wanted to be in his plans and I was just buzzing.”

Ramsey isn’t the only player who claims that the main reason they joined Arsenal was Wenger. Mesut Ozil is another who revealed since signing for us that the boss spoke to him on the phone long before he put pen to paper.

It makes you think, if Wenger was to leave, would we have the same pulling power? Wenger is still one of the most respected men in football and he’s a huge part of why our squad is so strong now.
