Once again there was no separating Arsenal and PSG in the Champions League but there can be no doubting that the Parisians were the better side in both matches as Arsenal struggled in another high-pressure situation.

Own goals were the order of the day with the match becoming the first in the competition to have more goals than shots on target for the first time since 2009.

Arsenal looked like they had done enough to steal all the points but Alex Iwobi’s own goal in the 77th minute handed the visitors a deserved point.

Speaking after the match, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said, “We were the better team this evening.

“The players showed that they’re a great team.

“We deserved to win the game, because we created a lot of chances. We were missing a lot of players this evening, but I’m very proud of those who were on the pitch.

“They gave everything. This evening, we’re top of the group, but it’s not over yet. There is still a match to win at the Parc des Princes…We have to keep working.”

Manager Unai Emery added, “It was important to leave here in first place.

“The team deserved the draw, deserves to be first.

“It was a good test today to see how we are as a team on the pitch. I’m satisfied.

“We worked well to put pressure on a team that likes to have the ball. The result is fair. It would have been good to score our clear-cut chances just after equalising at 2-2. I’m delighted with the team’s attitude.”

Midfielder Lucas, told Canal+, “I’m happy with the team’s performance. We put a lot of intensity into it.

“It’s difficult to play here, and it’s during these kinds of matches that you show just how strong you are. We saw a great Paris Saint-Germain today.

“We were a little unlucky, but we managed to keep cool heads. We could have won, but we played very well. We have to continue in the same vein.”

Blaise Matuidi added, “This evening, it was really a great performance from the whole team. I think we even deserved to win it.

“We created a lot of chances. We almost played the perfect match. We scored two goals and that allows us to go top of the group. These kinds of games allow us to gauge ourselves, and we showed that Paris has a great team.

“My position? I play where I’m told to play. The coach wanted me to be higher up the pitch tonight. I try to give my all for the team.”

Thiago Motta got in on things, saying, “I think we saw a very good Paris Saint-Germain. The whole team must be congratulated. It’s true that we suffered at times, but at others, we made life difficult for Arsenal.

“Overall, I think we played a very good match, and we tried to score right up till the end. We now have one game left which, I hope, will be very open against an opponent, Ludogorets, that needs to win to qualify for the Europa League. I think it’s a good thing.”

And, finally, Edinson ‘could have won it by himself’ Cavani, said, “It’s a good result for us, even if we deserved to win.

“We showed more things than them, and created the better chances. We’re growing as a team. We played a great game against a great team.

“It was a challenge, and we faced up to it. We have to continue like that.”

I can’t help but notice how impressed they were with their own performance, kind of like Manchester United at the weekend.

It’s going to be hilarious when they both realise they aren’t actually that good and Arsenal were just super rubbish.
