It seems that former Arsenal man, Samir Nasri, remains unconvinced by Olivier Giroud, despite the striker having a solid Euro 2016 tournament.

Nasri, who’s currently on loan with Sevilla from Manchester City, chose to stand down from the France national team in 2014 after a turbulent time in the French press. Mouthing off at reporters, training ground bust-ups with William Gallas over criticism in his book and repeatedly getting snubbed meant that Nasri retired from international football at the age of just 27.

On his debut, however, he assisted Karim Benzema for France’s only goal of the match and it seems he hasn’t stopped providing the Real Madrid star with backup if his latest comments are anything to go by.

It seems the Arsenal fan hate figure isn’t quite convinced by Olivier Giroud.

“I’ll be objective, [Benzema] is the best French striker,” Nasri told L’Equipe [via Sport Witness].

“If Karim returns, he will get back to the teamwork and it will work. No you will not even tell me when Benzema is worse than Giroud or Gameiro?”

Benzema has been shunned from the France national team after the blackmail scandal and Giroud, as well as Atletico Madrid’s Kévin Gameiro, have had to step in in his place.

During the Euros, Oli scored three goals and assisted two in the six games he played in. He was solid and France played exactly to his strengths.

Although I don’t doubt that on paper Benzema is probably better than both strikers, he’s the one who messed up. Therefore, there can be no arguments over team selection.
