Jose Mourinho has swiftly become one of the most predictable managers in the Premier League when it comes to press conferences.

What used to be mindgames in order to distract from lacklustre performances on the pitch, now just seems a little unhinged and unnecessary. Even the English media appear to finally be cottoning on after decades of brown-nosing him.

Mourinho’s latest bone to pick with… just about everyone, is the fact that apparently everyone respects Wenger more than him. Despite the fact that, when he was Chelsea boss, he won a title. Okay.

“Mr Wenger has that respect from all of you. I don’t think I have it,” Jose whinged.

“My last league title was 18 months ago, not 18 years ago.

“I want to win a ninth championship and a fourth Premier League.

“I have been champion with four different clubs, I want to do that at Manchester United.”

The fact that Jose thinks that winning titles or trophies is the only way to earn respect from other human beings is quite telling. It’s nothing to do with his behaviour off the pitch or the way he conducts himself. No, it’s all to do with success.

Wenger is a man of class. Does that mean he never loses his temper or whines in press conferences? Of course not. He’s only human. But his gentle, charming nature is something that comes across in whatever he does.

What’s more is that the media have been far from respectful numerous times. Wenger’s hardly been treated with kid gloves since he’s been in London…
